Michaela began her journey as a Registered Nurse in 1996, she continued to advance her expertise obtaining her Masters of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) in 2012, specialising in Cardiology and Anticoagulation. Recognising a critical need for specialised care in these areas, Michaela took proactive steps to establish a Nurse Practitioner-led service at Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital in 2012. This initiative aimed to enhance patient access to personalised treatments, showcasing her commitment to advancing healthcare delivery and patient outcomes.
Michaela's contributions extend beyond clinical practice having presented on numerous occasions at national and international conferences, contributing to the broader healthcare community. Additionally, she has collaborated with Curtin University in developing patient education materials on specialised drug treatments. Michaela's professionalism, expertise and contributions to Nursing was recognised in her nomination as a finalist in the Olive Anstey Rotary Nurse of the Year 2014.
Transitioning into the private health system, Michaela has focused on supporting men's sexual health, emphasising personalised care to improve overall health and quality of life. Her passion for individualised patient care is evident, reflecting her ongoing commitment to promoting health and well-being.
